Mmmm, Delicious

Champagne Wednesday has continued as a weekly tradition, and is a little different every time.  Going in, I’m never sure if I’m going to be staggering upstairs at 6AM or leaving to do my own thing at midnight.  Some weeks we get plastered, some we have a glass each and go back to homework. Some we dance, some we wrestle, some we discuss philosophy.  Different every time.

Last night, we baked.  Well, I baked; with help.  Adonia wanted us to bake a cake, and I discovered I can get utterly blitzed and still make an excellent chocolate cake.  Chocolate cashew, at that.  Out of random things I keep in my kitchen.  Substituting things in a cake is supposed to be a really bad idea, but we had no choice.  It asked for almonds & hazelnuts, we had neither, so I used Jottos’ cashews.  It wanted vanilla, which we also had none of, so I subbed in some Frangelico hazelnut liqeur.  And we just used an approximate measure of chocolate chips, ’cause we lacked concisely measured cubes of baking chocolate.

And it worked.  It worked well, too.  So much delicious; the leftovers are my breakfast as I write this.

    Personally, I prefer breakfast pie. But that’d be a close second.
