Happy Halloween!

October 31, 2006

We had 30+ kids come to our house, dressed up in all sorts of crazy getups – the plain winner was the cute lil’ tyke in the purple plush dragon costume… What a cool costume!

30 is down from when I was little, but way up from the last few years. Two years ago we only got 16 or 17… I blame the malls, and all that BS from the news about dangerous candy. What the hell happened to Halloween as a community and neighbourhood thing, rahter than as an institution for coporate PR?

Uh … Anyway, we decorated the house all fancy, and carved pumpkins and all that. I’ll get you a photo of my pumpkin later on, maybe tomorrow – I finally did one of those translucent carved ones, rather than a strait cutout – it was a shitload of work, but it looks great.

So, merry All Hallows Ave and happy All Souls Day tomorrow.

…I was all excited to be home for halloween and see if I got trick-or-treaters at my door, but then I went to Bree’s and handed out candy there instead. I think the winner was either the 4-year-old pirate, complete with the facepaint beard, or the 3-year-old fuzzy lamb.

I didn’t think I was going to carve a pumpkin but it turns out that there was one at the Sherwoods that I did. *laughs*
