Out of Character. II.

July 30, 2006

Today we’re revisiting the music quiz I ran back in March. There’s some revisions, some deletions, but it seems pretty much unchaged other than some slight changes.
Name a song…

That makes you love yourself: I always do, but… Everything I have, pretty much, for different reasons. Some imspire me, some make me think, some make me feel good, and some just make me feel human.

That makes you cry: Guns ‘n Roses – “Cats in the Cradle and a Silver Spoon,” Procol Harum – “Conquistador”

That brings you down: Oingo Boingo – “Pictures of You,” Scissor Sisters – “Return to Oz,” Gary Jules – “Mad World”, which has an oddly awesome video – that I had to work VERY hard to find in Quicktime format. Leonard Cohen – “Hallelujah”

That disturbs you: Pink Floyd or Oingo Boigo. In general. But OB’s “Insanity” is unusually disturbing. Doctor Steel. Pretty much everything. “Lament for a Toy Factory” and “Childhood (Don’t) A-Go-Go” are pretty up there.

That makes you go “YES!”: Paperboys – “Crashing Down”

About an event in history: Boomtown Rats – “I Don’t Like Mondays”

That reminds you of that special someone: Uh. There’s a few. Special people and songs. Jeff Buckley’s version of “Hallelujah”, which reminds me of two of my favourite people. Scissor Sisters – “Better Luck Next Time,” Elton John – “Tiny Dancer”, Ganga Giri “Thigarra Yugal (Emu Song)”, OK Go, entire disc. Though I’m not enturely sure why. Enjoyed it, but also made fun of me for listening to it, so… (You know who you are…)

That inspires you: No joke – Starfleet Orchestra – “Faith of the Heart”

That has killer lyrics: Pretty much anything by Oingo Boingo, but “Who Do You Want To Be?” Everything by Kaiser Chiefs, I’ll source “Born to be a Dancer”

That has an intoxicating rhythm: Us3 – “Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)”, Ganga Giri, Horace X. Sahsa Dith “Russian Girls”,

That you can’t stop listening to: AFI – “Prelude 12 21”, RX Bandits “Untitled 01”, anything by Ganga Giri, Erasure “I Love To Hate You”, Dresden Dolls “Half Jack”

That has big words: Kaiser Chiefs – “Saturday Night” …Pneumothorax – that one’s big, right?

That has big ideas: The The – “Armageddon Days Are Here (Again)”

That you derive guilty pleasure from: SO many. O-Zone – “Dragostea Din Tei” … anything I’ve heard on RadioNigel. Erasure. Scissor Sisters. Killer Pussy – “Teenage Enema Nurses In Bondage” …I joke you not. It’s actually called that. Toto Coelo – “I Eat Cannibals”

That makes you tap your feet: Kings of Leon – “Molly’s Chambers”

That makes you dance: Billy Idol – “Mony Mony,” The Sweet – “Ballroom Blitz,” Spirit of the West – “Home for a Rest,” and House of Pain – “Jump Around”

That is in another language, but you love anyway: Sugarfree – “Cleptomania” And the video rocks.

That you swear is about you: The Kings “This Beat Goes On/Switching to Glide” (sort of),

That is also a favorite of your parents: The BB Band – “Good Vibrations”

That’s a love song: The Proclaimers – “500 Miles”

That makes you think of winter: Nothing, really.

That makes you think of summer: Neil Daimond – “Sweet Caroline”, Joel Plaskett “Nowhere With You”

That you just have to sing along to: Everything on this list, pretty much, but the major one is Moxy Früvus – “Drinking Song”

That is your favourite, period: Tie between Billy Idol’s “Mony Mony” and Sweet – “Ballroom Blitz”

There you are. 2nd time around. I may have to do this regularly, just to see if there’s much changeup.
