The Creeping Red

It strikes me that in our current state of culture, we’re likely closer than ever before to a state of unintentional communism than ever before.

Really, we’re in a place where almost every media we have, including secret documents, is free.  Not supposed to be, sure, but they are.

And with technology like 3D printers being continuously refined all the time, the day when even physical wants could be bootlegged over the ‘net is likely approaching fast.  Currently, we’ve entered a time when an extensive record collection, or movie library, or top software tools are no longer exclusively the perview of those wealthy enough to afford them.  Anyone can download these things of the internet.  In time, the technological capacity to generate or create or what-have-you a solid object based on plans obtained over the ‘net or whatever equivalent we have then will happen as well.

Everyone will be rendered equal in terms of physical posessions.  We will all be able to pirate whatever we want off the internet whenever we feel like it.  Everyone will share everything, and all will have whatever they want.

…I wonder how we’ll fuck it up?
